Sedan Delivery

Only 800 Miles on this Over the Top, Six Figure Show Car!

The 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery was originally marketed as an attractive and dependable work vehicle. With plenty of space to fit lumber from the hardware store and still have room for groceries, it was created to be ultimate utilitarian hauler.

Despite the iconic tailfins and long roof proportions, the Sedan Deliveries left a little bit to be desired. Like other Chevrolet One-Fifty models, they were typically ordered in bare trim levels with low output engines. But Michael Bartone at Bartone Brothers Racing wanted his wagon to be capable of hauling a lot more than cargo. He wanted it to haul ass!

One peek under the hood of this Sedan Delivery, and you're not going to find the 140-horsepower Blue Flame inline-six. Instead you'll be looking at a 427 cubic-inch Bill Mitchell Motown small block V8. With 540 horsepower, a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission and a Ford 9” rear with a 3.75:1 gear ratio, those trips to the grocery store are sure to be a little more intriguing. That much is for sure.

Consider taking the road less traveled and test out the exotic sports car handling of the Art Morrison chassis designed to provide the perfect combination of ride comfort, cornering agility and high speed stability. With a 4-link rear suspension, dropped spindles, coilovers, and four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes, Corvette owners are sure to be taken back as a station wagon leaves them struggling to keep up.

Look inside, and you'll see the plain upholstery and rubberized flooring has been replaced with two-tone black and red Connolly Leather seats, matching door panels and German square weave carpet. Classic Instruments analog gauges, Vintage Air, power windows and a JBL amp and subwoofer take the interior to a level far beyond even the upscale Bel Air models.

With a laser straight body and exquisite jet-black paint, Michael Bartone spared no expense during the six-figure build of this 1957 Sedan Delivery. Even the mandrel bent exhaust is ceramic coated. With only 800 miles on the car since its frame-off restoration, this wagon is sure to have many more trips to grocery store in its future. Just try not to break the eggs on your way home.
